Dermatologist K-Beauty Brands for 2026: 3 Clinic- and Pharma-Born Korean Brands for Sensitive Skin

"'Dermatologist-approved' appears on so many products that it has almost lost meaning. So instead of repeating the phrase, I looked at where Korean brands actually come from. A handful were built for dermatology clinics or by pharmaceutical companies, and still focus on one thing: sensitive, compromised skin. These are the three we stock, what each one is known for, and the product I'd start with from each, tested on my own dry, reactive skin."

The short answer: which Korean brands come from dermatology?

ZEROID launched in 2002 as a moisturizer for dermatology clinics, from the Korean skin-barrier company Neopharm. AESTURA is Amorepacific's dermocosmetic brand for sensitive and dry, atopy-prone skin. Centellian24 comes from Dongkook Pharmaceutical and is built around TECA, a titrated centella extract with pharmaceutical roots. All three focus on barrier repair rather than strong actives. These are cosmetics, not medicines; for a diagnosed skin condition, see a dermatologist.

ZEROID

Clinic-born barrier care built on Neopharm's MLE technology, which mimics the skin's lipid structure. Best for very dry, compromised skin.

AESTURA

Amorepacific's dermocosmetic line, centred on ceramide barrier repair. Best for dry, sensitive and redness-prone skin.

Centellian24

A pharmaceutical company's skincare brand built on TECA centella. Best for sensitive skin that also wants firmness.

ZEROID: Clinic-Born Barrier Care from Neopharm

ZEROID started as a clinic moisturizer and is widely stocked in Korean dermatology and paediatric clinics. Its formulas use MLE (multi-lamellar emulsion), Neopharm's technology designed to mimic the skin's own lipid layers, plus Defensamide for comfort.

ZEROID Intensive Cream (80ml)

The brand's signature: a rich MLE barrier cream for very dry, compromised skin that absorbs without a greasy film.

MLE lipids, squalane and Defensamide rebuild comfort on skin that feels tight and rough. It's the cream I used through my driest winter weeks, and the only one that kept my cheeks comfortable until evening. Fragrance-free, vegan, dermatologically-tested, pregnancy-friendly and made with clean ingredients.

Best for: dry, sensitive and normal skin; a damaged barrier; winter.Less suited to: oily or breakout-prone skin in summer.

Editor’s tip: ZEROID is one of the Korean bestsellers in our guide to what Koreans actually use.

ZEROID Intensive Lotion (200ml)

The same MLE barrier technology in a lotion for very dry, rough body skin.

For dry shins, arms and hands that flake in winter, this lotion brings the Intensive Cream's approach to the body in a faster-absorbing texture. Fragrance-free, vegan, dermatologically-tested, pregnancy-friendly and made with clean ingredients.

Best for: very dry or rough body skin; winter; the whole family.Less suited to: anyone wanting a light, quick summer body lotion.

Editor’s tip: Apply within three minutes of showering, on slightly damp skin.

AESTURA: Amorepacific's Ceramide Barrier Line

AESTURA's Atobarrier 365 line is built on high-density ceramide capsules for dry, sensitive skin. If you already know the cream, these two are the lighter steps of the same system.

AESTURA Atobarrier 365 Lotion (150ml)

Ceramide barrier repair in a lotion that sinks in fast: the cream's benefits without its weight.

High-density capsules of long-chain ceramides strengthen the barrier and balance oil and water, in a texture that suits combination skin and summer. Fragrance-free, alcohol-free, dermatologically-tested, pregnancy-friendly and made with clean ingredients.

Best for: dry, sensitive and combination skin; daytime; warmer months.Less suited to: very dry skin in deep winter; use the cream.

AESTURA Atobarrier 365 Hydro Cera-HA Ampoule (30ml)

Hyaluronic acid bonded to ceramide: hydration that stays put on skin with a weak barrier.

Plain hyaluronic acid draws water in, but on a weak barrier it escapes again. Cera-HA pairs it with ceramide, plus cholesterol, fatty acids, niacinamide and panthenol, so moisture is delivered and held. Fragrance-free, alcohol-free, dermatologically-tested, pregnancy-friendly and made with clean ingredients.

Best for: dry, sensitive and normal skin; dehydration; under any cream.Less suited to: anyone wanting a targeted active such as vitamin C or retinol.

Editor’s tip: Press two or three drops into damp skin before your moisturizer.

"I need something gentle, but I also want firmer skin."

Centellian24: TECA Centella from a Pharmaceutical Company

Centellian24 is the skincare brand of Dongkook Pharmaceutical. Its Madeca cream line is built on TECA, a standardised centella extract also used in the company's pharmaceutical range.

Centellian24 Madeca Cream Time Reverse

TECA centella with peptides and niacinamide: barrier comfort for sensitive skin, with firmness in mind.

TECA calms and supports a stressed barrier; peptides and niacinamide add firmness and tone care. It's the most "anti-ageing" of the three brands' creams, still gentle enough for my reactive skin. Available in 50ml and 80ml. Fragrance-free, dermatologically-tested and pregnancy-friendly.

Best for: dry, normal and sensitive skin; early loss of firmness; redness.Less suited to: oily skin wanting a light gel.

Editor’s tip: A good night cream to pair with a gentle retinoid routine.
